Today we are going to talk about some of the network marketing tools that you may need to build your MLM business.
Unlike traditional brick and mortar businesses, network marketing requires a very minimal investment. You just need a few basic tools (many of which you likely have already) and you could be well on your way to building a 7 figure business.
A traditional business on the other hand, will require you to put up thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars up front… just to get started.
With network marketing, you can get started for a few hundred bucks.
So the network marketing tools we’re discussing today are basically divided into 2 main categories:
- Traditional MLM
- Internet Marketing

Traditional Network Marketing Tools
By traditional network marketing, we’re talking about the age-old, time-tested methods of growing MLM businesses that have been used for decades.
It’s all about making one-on-one connections with other people. Growing your personal network. Inviting people to watch your business presentation. And guiding them through the recruitment process.
The network marketing tools discussed in this section are crucial for the traditional MLM building process.
1. Cell Phone
As we mentioned already, network marketing is all about connecting with other people. It’s about building relationships and nurturing those relationships for years to come.
And a cell phone is an absolute necessity for this.
Gone are the days where you send letters, emails, or make phone calls from a landline… folks aren’t all that receptive to those means of communication.
The personal computers we carry around in our pockets now dominate our communication. We now communicate mainly through text messages or messaging apps like Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, or Signal.
Honestly, many people don’t even answer phone calls anymore. They are much more receptive to a text message.
The communications world has changed. And it is no longer possible to be an effective networker without a cell phone.
The good thing is, you probably already have a cell phone.
If not, where ya been the last 15 years?
2. Promotional Tools
Your network marketing company will provide you with promotional tools that you can use to explain your products or business opportunity. They can come in various forms:
- Pamphlets
- Flyers
- Catalogues
- CDs/USB drives
- Online videos
It is absolutely essential that you use these network marketing tools.
In the beginning, you probably won’t have answers to all the questions that people ask you about your business.
But thanks to the network marketing tools provided to you by your company, you don’t need to know the answers. You just need to know where to find the answers.
As time goes on, you’ll start to know the answer to every question you get…
Be that as it may, you should still continue to use the provided promotional tools.
Because this will signal to your prospects that they don’t need to be an expert to build the business. They will see that despite not having all the answers, they could probably do this business, too.
They’ll be more likely to join.
And they’ll be more likely to succeed, because they’ll simply use the promotional network marketing tools… just like they watched you do.
I know, it probably feels good to know all the answers without needing to refer to your tools. But put your ego aside…
Network marketing success is all about duplication. And following the system that your company teaches and using the tools they provide will massively increase your odds of long term success.
3. Webinar Platform
This is not something you need to worry about if you’re brand new to the business. But as time goes on, hosting your own webinars can be a very efficient way to manage your business at scale.
Eventually, your team might grow to hundreds or thousands of people. And it’s simply not practical for you to individually train every one of these people how to succeed with this business.
Instead, you can host live training webinars where you lay out the path to success. You can have thousands of people tuning in from their own homes, learning exactly what they need to do.
Additionally, you can host recruiting webinars where you present your products and business opportunity. Your team members can invite their own prospects to tune into the webinar if they’re not ready to host their own, and you’ll do the selling on their behalf.
You could one day be presenting to hundreds of people at once, live, from the comfort of your home office.
It doesn’t get much more efficient than that!
You can host webinars using Facebook, Zoom, GoToWebinar or even YouTube.
5. CRM
As your network and list of prospects grows larger and larger, it will become increasingly more difficult to manage.
You may one day come to a point where you have 10 or more people all interested in your business… but they are all in different stages of the recruitment process.
If you try to keep track of all these interactions inside your own head, you’ll become overwhelmed. And worse, you’ll be ineffective which will cost you money.
This is where a planner like a CRM (customer relationship manager) comes in.
As a network marketing professional with a growing business, a CRM is one of the most important network marketing tools you can have.
Not only will it help you make more sales and recruit more reps, but it can also be invaluable to building and sustaining your personal network.

Online Network Marketing Tools
We’ve talked about some of the basic network marketing tools that you need to build your business using traditional methods. So now we’ll get into some of the tools you’ll need to take your MLM business online.
Before we talk about specific internet marketing tools, you should know that all of the tools we’ve already discussed above will also be crucial to your business even if you decide to primarily build online.
But if you decide to take the internet marketing route, there are some additional network marketing tools that you’re going to need.
If you’re not familiar with how you can build an MLM business online, check out our digital marketing guide here.
6. Computer
It probably goes without saying, but you’re going to need a computer.
It is theoretically possible to grow an online business using nothing but your cell phone, but it’s going to be challenging.
A good desktop or laptop computer will serve you much better in terms of staying organised and having the capabilities to run the various software solutions that you’re going to need.
To be honest, you don’t really need a super powerful computer… a $500 unit from WalMart will work just fine unless you get into video editing and other resource intensive projects.
7. Sales Funnel Builder
If you are going to take your MLM business online, then you are going to need a web based sales funnel that will take your leads through the sales and/or recruiting process in an automated fashion.
If you don’t understand what a sales funnel is and how to use it, check out our digital marketing guide.
A sales funnel is basically a series of simple websites that will guide your leads through a process of convincing them that they should buy or join what you’re selling.
I know what you’re thinking…
I don’t have any techie skills, I can’t build websites!
Listen…
There are so many software solutions available now that make building sales funnels an absolute breeze. If you know how to copy and paste files, then you can build beautiful and effective sales funnels.
But only if you have the right tools.
A few examples:
- LeadPages
- ClickFunnels
- GetResponse
- Builderall
- MLSP
Of the listed sales funnel builders above, MLSP (MyLeadSystemPro) is by far my favorite and is what I would recommend.
Because MLSP is specifically designed for network marketers.
Not only does it have an easy to use sales funnel builder, but it also has tons of other useful network marketing tools and training that you can take advantage of in your business.
But we’ll get to that.
8. Email Autoresponder
If you choose to build your business using internet marketing, an email autoresponder is the most important software out of all your network marketing tools.
I’m sure you know this old network marketing adage:
The fortune is in the follow up.
Well this applies online just as much as it does offline. The average customer needs to be exposed to a product roughly 7 times before they make a buying decision…
So if you want to make sales or recruit reps online, you need a way to keep in regular contact with your leads. It allows you to provide value to your leads regularly over an extended period of time. And it allows you to share your product or business opportunity and explain how it could add value to their lives.
Over time, your email list could grow to thousands of people. Or even tens or hundreds of thousands of people. Obviously you can’t send thousands of individual emails to each of your leads.
An email autoresponder allows you to automate this process and send out emails in bulk to thousands of people at once.
A few options are:
- Constant Contact
- GetResponse
- MailChimp
- Convert Kit
- Aweber
Aweber is my personal recommendation. It’s an easy to use platform and very affordable.
9. Graphic Designing Tools
Internet marketing is all about building an audience.
You need to provide value to people, which will, over time, attract them to you. If you do this successfully, you will be able to build enough trust with your audience that they’ll be willing to take your advice and buy (or join) what you recommend.
To create engaging content to publish online, you’re going to need to incorporate images into your content.
Whether you’re blogging, posting on social media, or creating videos on YouTube, images are going to play a powerful role in the engagement of your content.
So you’re going to need a tool that allows you to create attractive images that will engage people and entice them to dig deeper into your content.
Canva is probably the number one tool for internet marketers who want to create stunning images.
10. Video Camera
Using videos in your marketing is not necessary. But it can be an incredibly powerful way for your audience to get to know you on a deeper level. Videos will allow you to build trust with an audience much quicker than text alone.
If you decide to use video in your marketing, it might not be a bad idea to invest in a good camera.
But honestly, your smartphone camera will probably do just fine.
Most smart phones are capable of recording videos in high definition. And you really don’t need anything more than that.
11. Video Editor
If you are using videos in your marketing, you’re going to need a good video editor that’s easy to use.
Camtasia would be my personal recommendation.
Not only can you edit basically any video format, but you can also record your screen. This is very handy if you want to create training or tutorial videos. You could also use this to put together a powerful network marketing presentation to share with your audience.
12. Content Platform
As we mentioned already, internet marketing is all about building an audience. And you do this by creating content that people want to consume…
But you need a platform to host that content.
If you’re using primarily video marketing, you can host your videos on a platform like YouTube, Rumble, or even Facebook.
Maybe you prefer writing. In this case, you could use a blogging platform like Blogger, Tumblr, or LinkedIn. But honestly, hosting a blog on your own personal website is probably your best bet. You’ll be able to completely customise the user experience and monetise it any you want to. Plus, you can post your videos there too.
You may also want to consider becoming active on social media. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram can be great platforms to build an audience. And you can use these platforms to drive traffic to your other content on your blog or YouTube channel.
13. System Provided By Your Company
When you first get started with your company, you’ll be taught a system.
This system is specifically designed to teach you how to build your business in a way that will be duplicable, allowing you to easily plug your own reps into the system so that they can duplicate the process.
It is crucial that you use the system you’re taught. It has been specifically designed to achieve a balance between effectiveness and duplication.
Remember, everyone in your company upline is incentivised to help you succeed. Because if you make more money, so do they. So they will not steer you wrong. At least not intentionally.
The system will include training on the process as well as various network marketing tools to help you explain the products and business opportunity without needing to be an expert or resort to complex recruiting scripts.
Every company and team will have different systems so it’s impossible for me to explain exactly what you’re going to be taught.
All you need to know is that it’s crucial that you follow the system as it’s taught. Because that will make it much more likely that your builders will do the same. This will allow you to build a deep network marketing team that will be resilient and stand the test of time.
14. Alternative Training Platform
In some cases, you may get recruited into a company and just end up with a bad sponsor. They provide no training and resources and don’t even bother to show you around or introduce you to other leaders that can help.
In this case, you may want to consider finding a different company or leader that will actually give you the time and training that you deserve.
Or you could consider an alternative training platform that’s designed for all network marketers.
I’m talking about a platform called MLSP.
MLSP (MyLeadSystemPro) is a platform designed for network marketers who want to take their business online. They provide all the training and tools that you’ll need to grow an MLM business online, and you can plug your own team into the system as well.
Some of the network marketing tools included in MLSP are:
- Marketing training
- Customer relationship manager
- Done-for-you sales funnels
- Custom sales funnel builder
- Affiliate products
One of the problems with MLSP is that they offer so much stuff that you may not know where to start. Seriously, it can be quite overwhelming. So if you decide to join MLSP, be ready for this. Spend a week or so just navigating the system to see what they offer.
And then decide which direction you want to take. Don’t try to master all of the marketing methods they teach all at once.
For example, you may be tempted to learn Twitter, Facebook, video, and blogging all at once.
Don’t do this.
You’ll become overwhelmed and frustrated. And you’ll likely quit before even giving yourself a fair shot.
If you’re not at all interested in taking your MLM business online, then MLSP is probably not for you. Instead, take some initiative and try reaching out to some leaders in your upline for guidance.
Remember, following the system designed specifically for your company will be your best bet to achieve long term success in this business.
Let’s Wrap This Up
There are many network marketing tools that can help you to become more effective and efficient in your business. But I wanna be clear about something…
You don’t need them all.
At least not in the beginning.
Your best odds to make it in network marketing is to keep it simple. Connect with a leader in your company and assure them that you’re here to learn and work hard. If you’re sincere, they’ll be more than happy to give you a leg up.
But there are some basic network marketing tools that you must have:
- Cell phone
- Promotional tools
- A system to follow
You should also commit to a lifetime to education moving forward. You can learn from courses, podcasts, blogs, and books. You have a nearly unlimited amount of education at your fingertips. Use it.
If you have all of these things in addition to a strong will for freedom and success, there’s no reason that you can’t make this business work. Millions of people all over the world are doing it right now, and you can too.

4. Social Media
Like a cell phone, social media is quickly becoming one of those indispensable network marketing tools.
Everybody is on social media. It’s where many of us get the majority of our information. It’s where relationships are formed. And often, it’s where trust is built.
But you have to use it correctly.
Don’t use social media to spread your political or religious views. People are growing tired of that.
If you can use your social media to be a source of inspiration and joy, many people will be attracted to you. Because they’ll find it refreshing. And you’ll be more likely to attract the types of people that you would actually want to work with: positive and motivated people.
Use your timeline (using Facebook as an example) to share positive messages, as well as all the interesting and fruitful experiences you have in life.
You can use the direct messenger on the platform to connect to individual people.
You can even use a feature like Facebook Groups or Discord servers to build your own communities of like-minded folks.
If used correctly, social media can be a huge asset to your business.
